Caverion has signed a new agreement with the MAX IV Laboratory in Lund for technical facility management services, effective from 1 October 2026. The agreement extends the collaboration that began in 2021 and will contribute to safe and reliable operations in an advanced research environment with high requirements for availability.

MAX IV is a national research facility operated by Lund University. The facility uses the world's brightest X-ray light, known as synchrotron light, for advanced materials research at the atomic and molecular level.
The assignment includes technical facility management, inspection and maintenance of technical installations, corrective maintenance, on-call services, security, as well as customer service and fault reporting. The facility is also monitored around the clock by Caverion Remote Center.
The operations at the MAX IV Laboratory require an exceptionally high level of operational reliability and a stable supply of technical services. Buildings, installations and equipment need to operate reliably, with as few disruptions as possible. The facility's complex technical installations and advanced equipment therefore place high demands on technical facility management. As part of the assignment, Caverion will also work systematically and proactively to reduce the risk of direct and indirect environmental impact.
“We are proud of the continued trust placed in us by MAX IV. This assignment clearly demonstrates the important role Technical Facility Management plays in complex and critical environments. With our expertise, local presence and 24/7 monitoring, we contribute to safe and reliable operations that support the research conducted at MAX IV”, says Anders Fagerkrantz, CEO, Caverion Sweden.
A demanding assignment
The complex operations at the MAX IV Laboratory place high demands on quality, safety and operational reliability. The new agreement gives both parties the opportunity to further develop their collaboration and create stable conditions for the research activities. Caverion has a local organization in place to deliver the services.
“For us at MAX IV, a strong local presence and expertise are essential, as we have extensive technology and infrastructure that need to operate reliably to ensure that MAX IV’s important research can continue without disruption. Caverion has been very responsive to our needs”, says Matias Karikoski, Facility Manager, Max IV.
